Requirements for Studying Pharmacy in Kenya

1. Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education(KCSE)

   You must complete your secondary education before you can study pharmacy in Kenya. Therefore, you must have a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education or an equivalent certificate. Additionally, you need to have at least a grade of B- or C+ in your results. Secondly, you need to have cluster subjects such as Mathematics, Biological Sciences, and Physics. Then, you need to have at least a grade B in English or Kiswahili.

2. A-Level

   You must have a minimum of a pass in subjects such as Biology and Chemistry. Additionally, you must have a subsidiary pass or a minimum credit pass in Physics or Mathematics in your O’level results.

3. Diploma in Biological Sciences

   You can use an ordinary diploma to apply to study pharmacy in Kenya. However, this certificate must be from a recognised university. You should have a minimum of credits in subjects such as Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics. You can also have a diploma in fields such as pharmaceutical technology, clinical medicine, radiology, dental sciences etc.

4. Bachelor’s Degree

   The bachelor’s degree must be in a Biological science field or equivalent. Additionally, you must have a minimum of second class.

5. English Language Test:

   Applicants from non-English speaking countries must take the English assessment examination that is administered by the university.

6. International Students

   If you are not a citizen of Kenya, your qualifications must be evaluated by the Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KAQA). Additionally, you must have a valid study permit.
